Jayson was born and raised in Eldorado, Illinois. After graduating from Eldorado High School, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Political Science from Saint Louis University. In 2004, Jayson received his law degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri.

After law school, Jayson went to work for one of the premiere law firms in the St. Louis region. During these early years of his career, Jayson represented some of the largest companies in the United States in state and federal courtrooms across the country. He handled cases involving product liability, toxic torts, medical malpractice, and other serious personal injury cases. Jayson then moved on to a smaller boutique law firm in St. Louis where he was able to focus more on medical malpractice litigation. In 2013, he moved back home to Saline County, where he served as an Assistant State’s Attorney and then as the Saline County State’s Attorney.

Jayson is a career litigator who has tried both civil and criminal jury trials to verdict. He has represented individuals, physicians, small businesses, Fortune 500 companies, and the People of the State of Illinois. Jayson has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation and he has been both a criminal defense attorney and a prosecutor during his career. Jayson has been the lead prosecutor on hundreds of serious felony criminal cases and he had a 100% conviction rate at trial as a prosecutor.

At Jelliffe, Doerge and Phelps, Jayson focuses his practice on representing individuals and families whose lives have been affected by the wrongful conduct of others, including medical malpractice, product liability, automobile accidents, and other serious personal injury cases. Jayson also focuses his practice on representing individuals whose liberty becomes threatened by criminal charges and police misconduct.
